Last week, we mentioned that we are posting previews of recent releases. Previously, we posted a preview of Book of Magic: Insurgency of Summer. Today we are giving you a ship from Book of Multifarious Munitions: 10 Pirate Ships. The Vehicles section of Ultimate Combat presented a number of sample vehicles, however they were all mundane ships. So when I was designing 10 Pirate Ships, I knew I wanted a ship propelled by elementals. Something as magical as a ship propelled by elementals and as eerie as seeing a sailing vessel without sails would be highly iconic and memorable to any player. So to your game, I give you the Terror Trident.

Description
Few need to see the flag of the Terror Trident to recognize this ship. Unlike most ships that sail the high seas, this ship lacks sails. The pair of eerily empty masts does not prevent this ship from moving. The goddess of piracy gifted her high priest, Captain Gavin Seawave, with 13 water elementals to push his ship. In return, the goddess demands that the crew of every ship they board be killed and thrown into the sea. The treasure, however, is to be divided by the crew according to their worth. The only exception the goddess allows to her mandate of death is if a prisoner bows in worship to the pirate goddess and will swear fealty to the hierophant and serve him faithfully.

Razor Coast Kickstarter

Book of Magic: Pirate SpellsLately there have been some AWESOME kickstarters from various Pathfinder Compatible publishers. Among them is the Razor Coast kickstarter from Frog God Games. As a gamer, I am backing this kickstarter, but JBE is also supporting it by giving away our Book of Magic: Pirate Spells PDF to all those that support it at $150 or more. Pathfinder: Arrr-some Reviews for Pirate Spells

Book of Magic: Pirate Spells has been taking the web by storm. We got several new reviews for it that we had to share the highlights with you. First up comes a FIVE STAR REVIEW from Joshua Gullion aka KTFish7 (link):

A spell that lets you sail UNDER the water, how freaking cool is that?
Animate Figurehead spoke to me … The concept of awakening the figurehead of a ship as a golem is fantastic, and I was very happy to see that a spell of this nature was included in this collection.
… and that just screams for an evil pirate captain and his crew of damned souls!!!!!!
… it would be a great dis-service if this collection of spells were not available at [every table playing a pirate adventure path].

Indeed, it is in the vessel-focused spells that the pdf truly shines.
vessel-grapples via kelp are a great idea as well, at least in my book.
“Sodden Ship” makes naval combat 3d in that it enables a ship to dive (and the crew to survive the experience).
MY second favorite is the high-level shipgate, which teleports a whole vessel – mad captain leading everyone into hell, anyone? NEAT!

Last up, we have a review from Ryan Costello Jr and Jefferson Jay Thacker aka Perram from the Know Direction podcast who had this to say about it (link):

What real purpose could these spells have [with so many other magic books out there]? As it ends up, these are so thematically appropriate I can easily see myself taking and using on a regular basis [these spells].
Some things are vital to the survival of your pirate character.
There was a very nice spell called Swashbuckler’s Charge that lets you charge around corners.
There’s a nice variety of spells.
A large portion of spells in here I will strongly consider … for my pirate character, not just for the fun of it but legitimately I feel these are going to be indispensable for a pirate adventure.
The PDF comes with the Hero Lab file… Oh that’s a neat effect.

Last year, we held an open call for spells appropriate on the high seas. We received a number of excellent submissions. Later this week we will be bringing you the top 24 spells from those submissions in Book of Magic: Pirate Spells. Every single spellcasting class gets new spells. Traveller: Arrr! There Be Piratey d66 Lists Over Yander!

Two new d66 lists are released today for your role playing games in the far future. The first is d66 Pirate Ship Names 2. Need more ship names of raiders, thieves, and dread pirates, this list have them all. Never let your encounters in deep space go without a properly fearsome name.

Up next we have d66 Pirate Bases. Every pirate needs a place to rest, refuel and sell off their ill-gotten goods. These places provide the names for bases and stations of adventure. Just remember to always keep your side arm fully loaded. Make your players seek out the pirate bases to get back stolen cargo and encounter a new worlds of adventure.
